In the summer of 2020, we hit the road and headed to Northern Norway, a place where nature really shows off. One of the coolest spots we checked out was Saltstraumen, known for having the world’s strongest whirlpool. Imagine a ton of water rushing through a narrow space, creating massive whirlpools out of nowhere. That’s Saltstraumen for you.

Saltstraumen is not far from Bodø, and it’s where you can see water do some pretty wild stuff. Every six hours, a huge amount of water (we’re talking about 400 million cubic meters!) squeezes through a tight spot that’s only 150 meters wide. This creates giant whirlpools, some as big as 10 meters across. Standing there, watching the water swirl and roar, was an epic reminder of how awesome nature can be.
I wanted to share this amazing sight with everyone, so I made a video. It’s one thing to talk about these giant whirlpools, but seeing them in action is another story. The video is right here in this post, so you can get a taste of the action.
The area around Saltstraumen is just as cool, with lots of nature to explore. You can hike for great views, or even try fishing – the place is famous for big cod. Saltstraumen was definitely a highlight of my journey through Northern Norway. It was a powerful experience that showed me just how incredible our planet is.

If you’ve never seen Saltstraumen or a whirlpool in real life, I hope my video and story get you pumped to check it out. It’s not just about seeing a natural wonder but feeling a deeper connection to the world around us. Saltstraumen is a reminder of the wild and beautiful side of nature, and it’s something you’ve got to see for yourself.
